"A Land of Beginning Again" -CWM

"A Land of Beginning Again"

I once read a poem entitled "A Land of Beginning Again", the Author told of a most wonderful land where all of our heartaches and sorrows past could be dropped like a "shabby ol' coat" at the door and never to be worn ever again!

My mind drifted in fascination of such a place where I might shed my shame for renewed hope and where each day's dawning light would bring fresh opportunity. But then, as I pondered the thought of stepping out of my "self" and into… Continue

"A Call For Compassion & Reform!" Posted by CompassionWorks

As people of faith, we are committed to the transformation of the causes and impact of crime in our communities and the transformation of our criminal justice system. The reality of the United States system of criminal justice often stands in stark contrast to the shared and deeply held values of our diverse religious traditions and our shared civic traditions of democracy.

Our faith traditions together with our best civic… Continue

Injustices in Chris Youngs Conviction

Christopher was convicted of Capital Murder on February 1st 2006 for the Robbery/homicide of Hashmukh "Hash" Patel. His conviction was based on faulty insufficient evidence, hearsay testimony and Racial biasness.

During Jury selection, the prosecutor committed numerous acts of racial biasness against jurors that fit the true description of "jury of my peers". The prosecutor struck (dismissed) 3 Black women, for different reasons, and could not give a legitimate race-neutral reason for doi… Continue

Study: Youths sexually abused in juvenile prisons

More than 12% of youths in juvenile prisons are sexually abused while in custody there, according to a Justice Department study out Thursday, and the vast majority of cases involve female staff and boys under their supervision.
In the worst facilities surveyed — in Indiana, Maryland, North Carolina and Texas — more than 30% of youths reported they had been sexually victimized. The study, the first of its kind, shows a rate of sexual assault more than seven times higher than

DNA proves man's innocence after 35 years in jail for child rape

James Bain spent more time in prison than any of the 246 inmates previously exonerated by DNA evidence nationwide, according to the Innocence Project of Florida. The longest-serving before him was James Lee Woodard of Dallas, who was released last year after spending more than 27 years in prison for a murder he did not commit.

Supreme Court refuses to hear death row inmate's appeal

Kevin Cooper was convicted in 1985 of stabbing to death 2 adults and 2 children. His attorneys argued that exculpatory evidence was destroyed or suppressed, but the high court declined to intervene.

A California death row inmate convicted of killing a Chino Hills couple and two children 26 years ago lost his last appeal Monday when the U.S. Supreme Court refused to review his case.

Lawyers for Kevin Cooper, 52, failed to persuade the high court that doubts remain about wh

Hope for the Wrongfully Convicted

In a recent 79-page decision, a Manhattan judge could well have stopped after the first four sentences of his concluding paragraph and still conveyed his main point: that Fernando Bermudez was no longer guilty of murder.

Instead, the judge, Justice John Cataldo of State Supreme Court in Manhattan, tacked on a fifth sentence that ended with t
